Join Friends of the Library
The funds raised by the Friends are used by the Library for activities not ordinarily covered under the Library's operating budget since ongoing Library operations are paid for by city and county dollars.
The Friends have 25 local Sponsors at various levels of donations. They also have many patrons who support in other ways.
- Who can join?
Everyone is welcome to become a" Friend" There are no fees. Just a concern for the extra needs of the Library. Financial assistance is always welcome and is very much appreciated.
- What do Friends do?
Donations to the Friends of Keck are used to sponsor the Encourage Young Readers program through the school year and during the very popular Summer Reading Program.
The Friends also support a Book and Chat Reading Series, January through March and September through November.
A Books for Babies program is also sponsored by the Friends welcoming new children in the community .
A Tots n Toters program for the beginning reader.
Delivery of books to shut ins. and a mini library at the Wapello Nursing Home.
If funds are available, the Friends also assist in purchasing necessary items to help the Library.
The Friends have an ongoing sales shelf of used books and magazines.
Donations are welcome if not too old. A small donation will enable one to take all the reading material they might want to read.
At times books are donated to the Ronald McDonald Home in Iowa City, to Mt Pleasant Correction, VA Hospital
and the local correction facility .
